Behold the beauty of the Aston Martin DB11
Fresh from the news that the Aston Martin DBX crossover will be made in Wales, the DB11 has been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. Controlled via an intuitive rotary control, with an optional touch pad offering character recognition, multi-touch and gesture support, the new satellite navigation and audio system have never been more effective, sounded better or been easier to operate. Named the “Aeroblade”, the virtual spoiler draws air from inlets on the sides of the auto, and then forces it vertically through a small slot in the decklid. Built upon a new lighter, stronger, and more space efficient bonded aluminum structure, DB11 is the most powerful, most efficient DB model in Aston Martin’s history.
We had the first official photos of the new Aston Martin DB11 the other day as the internet pulled its usual trick and leaked them out.
Representing Aston’s first model from the “Second Century” expansion plan, the DB9 replacement embraces the turbocharging era thanks to a newly developed biturbo 5.2-liter V12 engine. Naturally, it’s the most dynamic and most accelerative too, with a top speed of 200mph1 and a 0-62mph time of just 3.9sec1. The power generated by the twelve-cylinder engine is channeled to the rear axle through an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission that works with a mechanical limited-slip differential featuring active torque vectoring.
Comparing apple pies, the DB 11 is longer, wider, lower, and has a bigger wheelbase than the DB9 and tips the scales at 3,902 pounds / 1,770 kg (dry) with an nearly flawless 51 percent front and 49 percent rear weight distribution. Nexus quilting and Celestial perforation add layers of handsome complexity and intrigue, while ornate leatherwork, such as intricate brogue detailing, creates areas of visual and tactile delight.
Recently, Aston Martin released a video showcasing their iconic brand throughout it’s 103-year history. We’re a little sad to see the ornate (if hard to read) instruments replaced by an electronic display – not very Aston Martin.
Pricing for the Aston Martin DB11 is set at £154,900 in the United Kingdom and $211,995 in the U.S. Deliveries are scheduled to begin during the fourth quarter of 2016.
