Airport security stops woman with gun-shaped heels
The woman, who was traveling from Baltimore/Washington International Airport near Baltimore, Maryland, transported the items in a carry-on bag.
“Friendly reminder”, TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein tweeted about the incident, “Realistic replica firearms and ammunition are not permitted past TSA checkpoints”.
After returning to her airline’s ticket counter to try to check the items, the woman eventually left them with the TSA in order to catch her flight.
Killer heels usually refer to tall stilettos, rather than heels made of guns.
The 7.5-inch plastic heels are made by the California-based company Pleaser USA, Inc.
“Shoes and bracelets that are less than ideal to wear or bring to a TSA checkpoint”, she said. They’re one of about 10 or 12 different versions of the 3.5-inch platform shoes, she said. Lighters, nunchucks, more than 3.4 ounces of liquids and gels: these are verboten in your carry-on luggage. “You would never assume that a heel with a gun shape on it would have this kind of feedback from the TSA”.
