Photographer, Secret Service agent tussle at Trump rally
The students were quietly escorted out of the event by Secret Service, but were then met with Valdosta police officers who supposedly “politely, but firmly” asked the students to leave the event.
Trump’s campaign team is denying they had anything to do with the order.
Morris was apparently rushing over to cover a protest that had broken out during a speech by Trump, the billionaire businessman and former Atlantic City casino magnate who is leading the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
Trump blamed a faulty earpiece for misunderstanding the question and said he’s previously repudiated the support.
Donald Trump has ordered dozens of black students to be removed from a campaign rally as a furore continues to rage over his failure to condemn the Ku Klux Klan on CNN. “We’re going to win, win, win, win”, he told the crowd. They took us downstairs, down a narrow staircase, and tried to force us out of the building.
Since he personally requested they be removed, they had to be removed.
The group says they all had tickets to Monday’s event, and were coming to hear what trump had to say.
Time said it expressed concerns to the Secret Service about the level and nature of the agent’s response to Morris. It was a very traumatising experience.
Trump’s campaign acknowledged the incident, but declined to share additional details.
One Secret Service agent oversaw the students’ removal, but agents did not actively participate in escorting them out.
“There is absolutely zero truth to that”, says campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks.
While reports are conflicting as to whether or not Morris actually attempted to leave the press zone, by his own admission he did move at least some degree outside the designated area.
The Trump rally was considered a private event on the campus, officials said.
“Every single online poll, every single event I’ve been No. 1”, he said. “I have not experienced any racism on this campus until now”.
A group of about 30 to 40 Black Lives Matter protesters repeatedly interrupted Trump’s remarks, chanting, “No more hate, no more hate, let’s be equal let’s be great”.
The Independent Journal’s congressional reporter Joe Perticone shared footage of the adjustment in his Twitter feed with the headline: “Secret Service agent choke slams reporter”. Other videos show Morris, a camera around his neck, on his back kicking as the agent tries to subdue him.
The news broke in time for Super Tuesday-whether the incident will affect Trump’s numbers remains to be seen.
