Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here Wednesday for a hectic day-long visit during which he will attend the India-EU Summit and hold bilateral talks with his Belgian counterpart Charles Michel.
Mr. Modi’s day started off with meeting Members of the European Parliament and interacting with Indologists.
The delegation then proceeded to Egmont Palace, where the Belgian Foreign Ministry is located, for a ceremonial welcome and a private dialogue between Mr. Modi and Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel.
Upon his arrival this morning in Brussels, he was given a red carpet welcome and guard of honour.
The official added that there will be an EU-India ministerial-level engagement probably in September in an effort to re-launch the free trade agreement negotiations which are on hold since 2013.
In Washington DC, the Prime Minister will participate in the 4th Nuclear Security Summit convened by United States President Barack Obama, where several nations and global organisations will be represented.
The Indian PM is also going to meet a delegation of diamond traders and top business and to address the Indian diaspora.
