Scream Renewed by MTV for a Second Season
Ahead of its time at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour, the Viacom-owned cable network announced that the series based on the feature film franchise of the same name would be back for a second season. Still alive: Shy popular girl Emma (Willa Fitzgerald), artsy loner Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus), computer geek Noah (John Karna), all-American athlete Will (Connor Weil), ferocious socialite Brooke (Carlson Young), and mysterious new kid Kieran (Amadeus Serafini).
“We couldn’t be happier “Scream” has been renewed for a second season and that we have a wonderful working relationship with Doug Herzog, Stephen Friedman, Susanne Daniels, Mina Lefevre and her team”, said Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company and Dimension Films.
Scream debuted last month to 1.03 million total viewers (in Live+Same Day ratings), and in recent weeks has been hovering around the 800K range.
In the TV series, which is five episodes into its first season, new characters were introduced to fans. Bob Weinstein said, “We promise even more scares, surprises, romance and of course kills in season two”. Additional Executive Producers for season one included Wes Craven, Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley, Marianne Maddalena and Cathy Konrad.
Scream airs on Tuesday nights at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.
