New video released of Chattanooga gunman
An arrest report obtained by ABC News details a stop on April 20, 2015, in which Mohammad Abdulazeez was pulled over around 2 a.m. for failing to stay in his lane, “driving over 10 miles per hour under the speed limit, and stopping at green lights”. Officers discuss what they said was Abdulazeez’s erratic driving and perform several sobriety tests before taking him into custody.
He later admitted to having crushed and snorted some caffeine pills after officers questioned him about a “white powder” around his nose.
As cops began to interrogate him, Abdulazeez denied drinking, saying he’d earlier been with friends who had.
Abdulazeez was killed during a gunfight with officers following the shooting.
During a field sobriety test, Abdulazeez failed to walk in a straight line, stumbling to the side several times. “C’mon”, the officer said.
“Caffeine pills up your nose, man?”
A Virginia sheriff’s department sergeant is talking about his experience of coming face to face with the Chattanooga shooter. “C’mon, that can’t be good for you”.
TAMI CHAPPELL/REUTERS The man described as a violent homegrown extremist opened fire at two military offices in Chattanooga, Tennessee, before he was fatally shot in a July 16 attack. He did say he’d been around people puffing pot. Later in a police report, officers noted Abdulazeez’s slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, as well as an odor “commonly associated with an alcoholic beverage and…burnt marijuana”. Abdulazeez and a friend had reportedly been arguing in his auto, according to an incident report. He refused to consent to the state blood test, police said.
“It was”, the officer said.
