Natick teens forced to abandon limo as prom vehicle bursts into flames
According to ABC7, 10 teens were riding in a white stretch limo Friday on their way to the Natick High School prom.
A group of MA teenagers en route to their prom Friday were forced to bolt from their limousine, just before it burst into flames.
“I though it was kind of cool”, said Alexander Goudsmit.
The driver told CBS Boston station WBZ-TV he tried to put the fire out with his suit jacket as his passengers ran to safety.
A limo outside of Boston burst into flames, and the driver and students inside escaped without injury.
The Natick Fire Department was able to extinguish the flames – twice.
The teens caught a ride on a passing trolley that was also heading to the dance.
The cause of the fire is unknown, but school officials said the engine of the limo may be to blame.
Ten students were inside the limo when it caught fire near the intersection of Brook Street and Union Street.
By the time the students had arrived at their prom, almost everyone had heard what had happened. “They’re going to be at the prom and they’re going to have quite the story to tell”, said Tammo Goudsmit, Alexander’s father.
