Memorial Day activities set for Sunday, Monday throughout St. Lawrence County
The annual Memorial Day parade will take place on Main Street beginning at 10:30 a.m. Monday followed by a memorial service in Veterans Park.
In Springfield, the city’s annual ceremony will begin at Monday at 10 a.m.at Springfield Memorial Gardens at 4005 Memorial Boulevard.
The American Legion Post 170 invites the Duneland community to join in Memorial Day remembrance events on Monday, May 30.
A Memorial Day service will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at Sugar Creek Town Hall, N6641 County H. After the service, the Elkhorn Area Middle School band will lead a procession to Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Gov. Brian Sandoval will be on hand at Northern Nevada Veterans Coalition’s Memorial Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, May 30 at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, off Exit 48, in Fernley.
Members of the Janesville Patriotic Society carry a flag forwards to fold and present in special recognition of Brian Hansen, who volunteered over many years to sing the National Anthem and God Bless America at their events. The free event will feature the band with conductor Dr. Stephen L. Gage.
The Amvets will host this year’s parade on Memorial Day, May 29 starting at 11 a.m. The Walleye 5K and Run will be 10 a.m. Sunday.
Perry’s Monument: Perry’s Victory and International Peace Monument is open 10 a.m.to 6 p.m. daily through September 11 at 93 Delaware Ave.
Elsewhere on Monday, 11 a.m.
In case of rain, the service will be held at the high school.
Besides veterans, all law enforcement officers will be honored.
A Memorial Day Mass will be held on Monday at 11 a.m.at the Holy Name Cemetery.
The VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion will place wreaths, and the American Legion Firing Squad will fire a volley.
The community’s annual Yesteryear Celebration begins Friday night and runs through Monday in Legion Park and downtown Albany. The cross will be relocated to the CWV post at 18 West 23rd St.
Niles: Services begin at 11 a.m.at the Niles City Cemetery, and the American Legion William McKinley Post 106 will conduct the ceremony.
Struthers: The Struthers Fallen Soldiers Project will be dedicating three monuments in remembrance of Struthers soldiers at 10 a.m.at the Veterans Memorial at the high school, on the corner of Euclid Avenue and Morrison Street. The parade begins at 9 a.m., leaving from the football field parking lot and proceeding to the township cemetery, and will include the Jackson-Milton Marching Band, Scouting units, local fire departments and civic organizations. All service members and veterans will be granted free admission to the Explorium during Memorial Day weekend.
For those that have a loved one that rests in one of these cemeteries that is not on the roster, call the legion at 389-9102 and leave a message with their name, rank, branch of service, era and cemetery.
Starting at 9 a.m.at the Warren Amphitheater will be the Veterans Casting of Wreath Ceremony. The parade will march from the American Legion to Oaklawn Cemetery, where there will be a brief ceremony. At approximately 10:30 a.m. the Hanover Township Memorial service will commence at Whippanong American Legion Post 155.
All participating individuals and organizations should be at the Army reserve center on West Main Street at 9:30 a.m.to line up.
