Xbox One Scorpio to be more powerful than PS4 Neo
For now, Redmond is rumored to be planning a smaller and cheaper version of the Xbox One and two new streaming devices at E3.
Xbox chief Phil Spencer has responded to the reports of a new console launch, including an Xbox One slim and a more powerful device that will be Oculus Rift compatible.
At least one major developer is working on a virtual reality game for Xbox One which will be released in 2017, Ars Technica reports.
E3 is fast approaching and – if the sources are correct – gaming fans will get to see a brand new console on the market before this year ends. However, Kotaku cautions that the Xbox One Scorpio’s development is still not a done deal.
The main concern for Scorpio is apparently its power, as Sony’s PlayStation 4 has outperformed Xbox One in this way for a while.
Gamers believe the latest console is part of wider plans from Microsoft to bring together Xbox and Windows 10 under the name Project Helix. The original Xbox 360 was released in 2005, and the company launched a newer, smaller version of the console at E3 in 2010. The Xbox One Scorpio might even more powerful than PCs. Xbox One has been mocked by the gaming community for being relatively weaker than PlayStation 4 with games that run at a lower resolution on Microsoft’s console.
Microsoft has been contacted about the rumours and responded in the expected way, saying: “We do not comment on rumors or speculation,”. We’ll be in LA reporting from the show, so make sure to check back for all the news once it’s made official.
We’ll find out just what this game is (and who it’s developed by) when it’s unveiled at E3 next month.
While Microsoft is open to the idea of cross-play between the two rival consoles, Sony appears to be a bit vague about the possibility.
