Jenson Button is new favourite for Top Gear host job
The latest possibility is Formula 1 ace Jenson Button.
Top Gear as we all know it came to an end on March 25 when BBC announced Jeremy Clarkson’s exit from the popular vehicle show and shortly after that colleagues and friends James May and Richard Hammond said they won’t do TG without Jezza.
Jodie Kidd has added fuel to speculation that she could be joining Top Gear – by suggesting the new-look show “definitely” needs a female presenter.
Although failing to deny any talks, the BBC refused to comment on speculation.
“An announcement is imminent”, a source reportedly said.
Meanwhile, he recently hinted that he could be set to retire from the sport in the near future.
At the time, director-general Tony Hall said “a line had been crossed” and “there can not be one rule for one and one rule for another”.
Former radio DJ Chris Evans has been named the show’s new host but question-marks surround who his co-hosts will be.
As dozens of entries were submitted, from the wacky to the deadly serious, it emerged that former model Jodie Kidd may also be in the running for a coveted co-star position.
The star took part in the “Star in the Reasonably Price Car” segment of the show on a snowy day in 2010 and admitted beforehand he was “cold” and “nervous”.
