3 charged with murder in death of 13-year-old Detroit boy
According to the police, Walker and Roberts are in a romantic relationship.
Wayne County prosecutor Kym Worthy said that about 10:30 p.m. two days prior, Deontae and a friend – Detroit Police Chief James Craig said it was Deontae’s cousin – were in an alley at the rear of Nino’s Market, a party store at 15901 E. Warren in Detroit.
Detroit Police are trying to figure out how a 13-year-old boy got his hands on a gun, and ended up killing a 14-year-old boy on the city’s east side Tuesday night.
Gregory Walker is accused of choking Deontae Mitchell to death with help from Lillian Roberts and Earnest Coleman, authorities said.
“It’s alleged that Walker, Roberts and Coleman kidnapped Deontae at gunpoint near the store and drove away with him in a vehicle”.
All three are expected to be arraigned today in Detroit’s 36th District Court. On Thursday, three people were arrested and charged in connection with Mitchell’s murder.
Deontae rode away, Worthy said, and surveillance video shows Deontae being pursued by a man, who grabbed his arm and forced him into a auto.
There has not been any word yet if the three suspects have attorneys. A Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office spokesman, who could not be immediately reached for comment today, said in an e-mail Friday that the manner and cause of Deontae’s death “are pending further investigation”. The victim had a handgun and it is alleged that the 13-year-old picked up the gun discharging it, killing Austin, the prosecutor’s office said.
