Move over Grumpy Cat, here comes the puggle Earl the Grumpy Puppy

Despite his old man-ish expression, Earl’s owners, a couple in Iowa, told the Daily Mail that Earl is actually quite playful. It’s just his expression that makes him look like the world is a dark place to live in.

Earl, who is a puggle (pug and beagle mix) is slowing gaining internet recognition thanks to his owner, Derek Bloomfield, who first posted his photo on Reddit.

“He is the most relaxed, content puppy either one of us has ever seen”, adding, “He has had the grumpy expression from day one”. “Then he wags his tail in approval”, Bloomfield gushed.

Move over net sensation Grumpy Cat – these gorgeous pictures show the very grumpiest side of Earl, the internet’s most morose mutt.

Memes dedicated to Earl have already been created, with a few people comparing him to Samuel L Jackson’s character in Pulp Fiction.

“This dog looks like he pays taxes”, wrote one user.

“He’s constantly trying to snuggle up to one of us and has us in constant fits of laughter through his facial expressions and mannerisms”, Bloomfield continued.

The five-month-old dog has a permanent scowl etched on his face and could become a rival to “Grumpy Cat”. Usually a combination of those two phrases and laughter.

He since started Facebook and Instagram pages for his dog that have gained some solid traction over the past few weeks. That would give anyone the urge to put on a death glare, but at least on Earl it’s a cute death glare.
