Donald Trump Rally Arrest Count Rises To 8; More Suspects Sought
Four juvenile protesters at Trump rally who had attacked others were arrested this week, in what the San Jose Police have detailed as the right to freedom of assembly in which the right or ability of people to come together and collectively express, promote, pursue, and defend their ideas.
Police also issued an alert Wednesday for a fourth juvenile suspect who, like the other three, they had identified after searching through video of the June 2 rally.
Friday, police released images of two men, including one in which they are in close proximity to each other, in connection with unspecified acts of violence that occurred June 2 outside the San Jose Convention Center as the Trump rally inside was letting out.
Morales said, “San Jose Police investigators are still continuing with follow-up investigations and ask for the public’s continued assistance”. The second involved the minor committing battery with “gang overtones” on a separate victim. The same suspect was also seen vandalizing private property.
Detectives assigned to the task force on post-rally violence released Wednesday images of another assault suspect they’re seeking, of a man who at one point was wearing a backward black baseball cap.
That adds to four other arrests made the day of the rally.
The four have been identified as 19-year-old Ahmed Abdirahman of Santa Clara, 18-year-old Robert Trillo of San Jose, 19-year-old Antonio Fernandez of San Jose, and 19-year-old Michael Kitaigorodsky of San Jose.
Two suspects from San Jose, one 16 and one 17, were arrested on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon.
“The officer said ‘we were told to have a stand-down by the police chief and mayor, ‘” he said, adding that he believed it because as they walked around, they saw evidence of this.
“There are things we could have done better, and if Mr. Trump comes back, we will do things better”, Garcia said, noting that he has heard criticism contending police either did not do enough or did too much to protect Trump supporters.
