Apple to Unveil Major iTunes Overhaul at WWDC
Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is literally just around the corner, officially kicking off on Monday morning, and a new, plausible, rumor has just popped up.
Yes, we already have a pretty good idea Siri is coming to MacOS, thanks to MacRumors. At this rate, the only thing left to speculate on is the musical guest.
Still, Apple pundit Dediu said he’s puzzled by Apple’s decision to hold the keynote at the Bill Graham Center rather than the usual Moscone Center convention venue. Gene Munster, a Piper Jaffray analyst, says a new version of the Apple Watch may be ready by the fall, though there may be new apps at WWDC. No, hell isn’t freezing over, but this could represent a significant shift – perhaps Apple is following Google’s lead by no longer limiting its apps to first-party devices.
Ari Roisman, the CEO behind video messaging app Glide, is already thinking about ways to integrate Siri into his app. Earlier this year, Apple used the new macOS name in an environmental website update. Now company is removing this feature and and moving artists updates onto their individual pages. Right now, numerous third-party apps available on the Pro aren’t designed for the new tablet’s specifications, and images, for example, can look off. Apple is aware of the reformatting issues and should be introducing new methods for designers to work with the specific display requirements the Pro demands.
There may also be software updates for Apple Pay and Apple TV.
With Google set to release a chat app on iOS, bringing iMessage to Android could potentially be Apple’s response. If so, it wouldn’t be the first Apple app on Google’s mobile operating system.
The Digital Crown button, found on the side of the Apple Watch would be a great way to provide extra functionality to Apple Watch owners.
A rumor mill is presently making the rounds on the internet, suggesting that Apple could take the wraps off its iMessage for Android at the WWDC 2016. I do feel at least a little bit of vindication that finally, finally, Apple seems to agree with me that their application store model is broken. Could a new iTunes make its debut? In Macs, Siri will neither appear as a swipe menu nor as a full screen view like in iPhones and iPads, but will appear as an icon in the top right corner of the Mac’s menu bar. When clicked, Siri will begin listening for commands. The biggest, of which, will be crucial upgrades to its AI bot, Siri, in order to compete with Amazon and Google’s more sophisticated bots.
Apple has since edited the page to remove the mention of macOS, instead swapping out the name for Mac OS X.
Apple tends to use WWDC to talk about smaller future updates, too.
