British Airways flight forced into emergency landing after ‘bomb threat’
There were over 300 people on board the Boeing 747 when the evacuation took place.
Montreal police’s SWAT team and canine unit will be searching the plane on Wednesday morning.
They received a call about 40 minutes before the plane touched down at Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau worldwide Airport.
The plane’s captain made the decision to divert the aircraft “as a precaution”, according to a British Airways spokesperson.
Neither he, nor a British Airways spokesman, would offer any details on the precise nature of the threat, for reasons of operational security. They and everyone are safe and calm!
British Airways did not confirm the bomb threat, but said its flight from Las Vegas to London’s Heathrow airport landed safely in Montreal and passengers left the aircraft safely.
Ray Connolly was one of the passengers on board.
The airline said it is working with Canadian authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
She said the airline would provide hotel rooms for the passengers and “rebook them to other flights as soon as we can”.
