3 teenage boys arrested in attacks against Trump supporters
Officers continued to search for suspects in alleged assaults at a June 2 Trump rally after the department and San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo were criticized by the presumptive Republican nominee and his supporters.
“Now that the general election is underway, I believe Trump is the best candidate to fix our country’s many problems, and I believe he’s going to be the next commander in chief”, Mr. Hernandez wrote in an op-ed Friday morning for The Washington Post.
San Jose police announced Thursday that another teenage boy was arrested after several people were assaulted during last week’s campaign rally for Donald Trump, a day after officers arrested three teenage suspects for similar violent acts at the event.
As the time came close to 1800 hrs, more protesters arrived, mostly younger males and females between the ages of 14 to 25…. One officer said he even saw protesters “running for their lives” from an attacking mob. Anyone holding a sign in support for Trump were immediately antagonized by protesters. Some were holding Mexican flags, or burning American ones. “I could feel it coming – they would look at me and start walking up to me”, Mr. Hernandez wrote. I was unable to make contact with any of these victims due to my undercover capacity and fear for my own safety as well.
Nearing the end of the rally, I observed Trump-supporters leaving the rally just south of the Marriot Hotel. Protesters armed themselves with eggs, bottles, rocks and newspapers and threw items at Trump-supporters.
Seven people have been arrested so far and police are now searching for an additional two men and a woman.
It is unclear whether the seven charged were Trump supporters or among the hundreds of protesters who were seen on news clips waving Mexican flags, chanting anti-Trump slogans, and burning Trump hats and at least one USA flag.
In addition to Yi, police arrested eight others in connection to the violence.
