Firecrackers explode in Pudong Int’l Airport
At least four people were injured Sunday in an explosion at Shanghai Pudong International Airport after which the suspected attacker stabbed himself, security officials said.
The unidentified man removed a beer bottle or bottles containing explosive materials from a backpack before throwing it near a check-in counter.
A man suspected of detonating the devices attempted suicide by cutting his own throat, but survived, police said, adding that the suspect was later hospitalized.
It said three passengers were injured and police had sealed off the immediate area. After that, the police and military police arrived along with medical staff and I saw them bringing out a person, that’s what I saw.
The area was quickly cordoned off by authorities, who have launched an investigation into the incident.
A video showing the moment of the explosion has also been posted online.
The four victims suffered light wounds and are being treated in hospital.
