Dutch Bank Launches Voice-Activated Password System
If you live in the Netherlands, there is, after a bank in the country introduced a system which allows customers to log into online banking using just their voice.
Users simply have to say a short phrase, and the app will match up the sound recording to a file stored on the phone.
It is suggested that due to a person’s unique vocal cavity-in addition to the way they move their mouth, voice activation could potentially be a more secure option regarding security.
While this is new for mobile banking, voice-based technology is now being used actively in phone banking operations worldwide.
The Associated Press stated that a few US government departments use voice activation technology when individuals call to deal with tax and pensions issues and concerns.
Inge is the Dutch equivalent of Nuance Communications’s Nina, a virtual assistant with whom customers can engage in conversational speech.
ING Netherlands is rolling the feature out to iOS and Android users now, noting that compatible devices will also be able to use fingerprint recognition, instead.
