Warriors Star Draymond Green Suspended for Game 5
The Warriors earned that right by coming into Cleveland and beating the Cavaliers 108-97 in Game 4 on Friday night, a win that gave Golden State a commanding 3-1 lead in the series.
The Warriors lead the best-of-seven series 3-1 with a chance to clinch their second consecutive championship at home on Monday. Spears reported that the National Basketball Association was reviewing the incident between Green and Cavaliers superstar LeBron James during the fourth quarter of Game 4.
Remember that play toward the end of the game, when LeBron James took a step over Draymond, and Green responded for taking a swap at LBJ’s groin?
If Green were to be assessed a flagrant foul after league review, he would receive an automatic suspension for Monday’s Game 5. He also has five technical fouls and was fined $25,000 for kicking Oklahoma City’s Steven Adams in the groin during the Western Conference finals.
“The cumulative points system is created to deter flagrant fouls in our game” VanDeWeghe said in a statement.
With three minutes to go in the fourth quarter of Game 4, Green and James started battling for position, as Green attempted to set a screen for Stephen Curry.
Both Green and teammate Shaun Livingston said then interpretations of flagrant fouls are so inconsistent that it’s impossible to know where the line is drawn.
Should the Cavaliers win tomorrow night, Green will be allowed to return and continue reigning terror upon the dicks and balls of his opponents, beginning with Thursday’s Game 6.
“I don’t know what should happen”. They have to come together with steely resolve to win Game 5 in a insane atmosphere where Dub fans at Oakland’s Oracle Arena will want nothing else than to celebrate a back-to-back title on their turf.
“Obviously our locker room has seen it, and we’ll see what they say. But we’ve got to play through officiating”.
The NBA’s investigation is under way and it is trying to determine if Draymond Green punched LeBron James, according to sources with knowledge of the investigation.
Even without Green, the Warriors will likely be heavily favored to win at home Monday. James was trying to muscle his way through Green’s pick when the two got tangled up and Green ended up on the floor.
“His success is based on playing like that”, Bogut said of how Green plays.
Many viewed the league’s decision not to suspend Green as a final warning, setting him up to be disciplined if he committed any other infractions during the rest of the playoffs. Ronnie Magsanoc always tells me that stars simply need a gulp of water and some bench moments to clear their head and assess the game from a different viewpoint.
