Coming later today: Apple’s next big software improvements
After Windows bought the Cortana to Windows 10 Apple seems to be catching up by introducing the SIRI on the Mac.
Running from 13 – 17 June the event is historically known for showcasing the latest updates to iOS, tvOS and OS X, with Watch OS also in more recent years. You will be able to see it on your Safari OS X only if it is version 10.8.5 or later. This video feed only works in Safari and Microsoft Edge; the good news is that it works on OS X, iOS and Windows 10 – chances are you have at least one device running Safari or Edge.
The Continuity feature now also comes baked in with a new universal clipboard that will let users access the clipboard across all their Apple devices.
If Apple wants to assess the superiority of its Siri AI digital assistant then it should show at this year’s edition of developers conference more in-context capabilities to take consumers to the end of a request or transaction. For the past 2 years including the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6s with its bigger counter parts, the world has been receiving similar looking iPhones.
The Apple TV streaming box and the Apple Watch are also expected to have software revamps announced during the keynote on Monday evening.
Siri looks to be getting an update in iOS 10 to bring added functionality to your iPhone’s personal assistant.
There’s also an official WWDC app available.
Still, some experts say Apple is at a disadvantage with Google, which has compiled vast quantities of data – about individual users and consumer trends – from its search engine, Gmail, maps and other popular online services.
The much-awaited Apple’s WWDC 2016 conference will kick off today with a two-hour keynote address by the CEO Tim Cook and others.
But if we know Apple, the company is working on some AI tech that will offer serious smarts hidden behind a slick visual interface. Last fall, however, Apple acquired a startup that makes AI software specifically for mobile devices, and another that helps computers carry on extensive voice conversations. The service already lets people pay in stores without opening a separate app, by holding their phone or watch near a reader.
Siri is the most visible aspect of Apple’s artificial intelligence program, or AI.
