NYC rapper held without bail in fatal concert venue shooting
Prosecutors say Collins shot himself in the leg with his own 9mm, while Leemon claims the bullet came from another person.
The suspect, whose real name is Roland Collins, was ordered held without bail at Manhattan Criminal Court for the shooting at a rap concert last week that was caught on surveillance video.
Relatives of the dead man, Ronald McPhatter, who was found near the bar of the VIP area, said he was working as a security guard for Collins when he was shot.
A shooting that occurred at a NY nightclub during an event where T.I. was scheduled to perform resulted in multiple people being shot.
Collins’ charges could be upgraded to murder following the completion of ballistics tests, according to the Daily News.
Sources close to the investigation said Collins and the man wrestled for the gun and that’s when another, separate shot went off in a different part of the venue. Authorities are said to be still determining if he will be charged with the murder of his friend Ronald “Banga” McPhatter.
The rapper appeared in court yesterday (May 30) after one person was killed and three others were left with gunshot injuries at a gig last week.
Maino and another rapper, Uncle Murda, were performing before an audience of about 1,000 at the Irving Place club in lower Manhattan when gunfire erupted at about 10:15 p.m. EDT, according to reports.
“This 11 seconds of video that the NYPD released, it doesn’t say what happened before, it doesn’t say what happened after”, Leemon explained.
“The evidence will show he did not shoot himself”, Leemon said. Our music is meant to save lives, like it has mine and others.
A model named Maggie Hecktall was also shot in the leg. Heckstall has complained that police are pressuring her too aggressively for information about the shooting that she doesn’t have.
Trying to smooth out the hate-talk of the Police Commissioner, the city’s mayor, Bill de Blasio, said afterward that he believed Bratton had been “talking out of frustration”.
