‘Sprint King’ Bolt clocks 9.88 seconds to win Racers GP

Usain Bolt gave an emphatic demonstration of his readiness for an Olympic three-peat by running 9.88 (1.0m/s) to win the 100m at the JN Racers Grand Prix in Kingston, Jamaica on Saturday night.
The reigning World and Olympic champion staggered from the blocks but produced his now familiar mid-race acceleration to storm back to cross the line first in a season-best 9.88 seconds – the second fastest time in the world this year.
Meanwhile, Nickel Ashmeade and Yohan Blake both finished the race in the second position in 9.94 seconds ahead of Asafa Powell, who clocked 9.98 seconds.
In the women’s 100m, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce returned to winning ways after injury struggles, clocking 11.09 to beat USA’s Barbara Pierre.

“I was extremely nervous”, he admitted, “but I am glad I executed in the race”. “It wasn’t a flawless race but the key thing is that I actually won and that’s a good thing and I came out injury-free”.
Carter ran the lead-off leg for the then world record-breaking team, which also included Asafa Powell and Michael Frater.
As for the start Bolt said, “I nearly fell over”.
Miller came off the corner slightly behind Jenna Prandini, but used her 400m strength to run past the American to take the win.
Miguel Francis of Antigua won the 200m in 19.88 beating Julian Forte who clocked 20.18.
Only France’s Jimmy Vicaut, who ran 9.86sec in Montreuil, has gone faster in 2016.
Jamaican Roxroy Cato was second in 48.98 seconds and Annsert Whyte of Jamaica third in 49.25.
