Liverpool join chase for N’Golo Kante
Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on making the 25-year-old his second signing following the deal of Villarreal defender Eric Bailly.
With a release clause of just £22 million, it appears nearly inevitable that Kante will leave the King Power Stadium this summer with some of the biggest clubs in Europe now circling around his availability.
The Leicester midfielder has had a spectacular season in the Premier League earning him his place in Didier Deschamps’ French squad at Euro 2016. His next aim should be to be recognised as the base of his team.
Kante’s presence in the midfield saw him showcase one of the finest displays in the recently concluded season.
And, while Makelele claims Kante still has work to do on his game, the former France worldwide says his successor can anchor his country’s midfield for years to come.
Kante’s top performances in Leicester City colours last season have already drawn the attention of a number of top European clubs with the likes of Ligue 1 champions PSG, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea chasing his signature. Jurgen Klopp wants the Reds to join the race in signing the most talented midfielder in the summer transfer window.
The Frenchman’s ownership is esteemed around £22m, given that he is thought to have a buyout clause on his contract.
Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri would love to hang on to the midfielder but accepts he might be fighting a losing battle.
