Apple Music In iOS 10 Brings Lyrics Integration, Redesigned Interface And More
Aside from a handful of aesthetic tweaks-cleaner lines, bigger fonts, an easier-to-navigate interface-the most significant change to the Apple Music platform is the expansion of “For You”, its playlist curation feature. The main difference between Apple’s music service and Spotify at this point is that the former has 13 million paying subscribers, while Spotify has 30 million.
The iOS 10 system update will arrive later this year. “A major redesign prioritizes the features its 15 million-plus subscribers use the most”. The new tab will include curated playlists and keep users in touch with new promoted content on the Apple Music service.
“It’s been an incredible year”, said Eddy Cue, prepping the audience for the day’s Apple Music revamp.
Indeed, Apple Music wasn’t the Spotify killer it needed to be.
The My Music tab is gone, replaced with Library, which will show only the songs that you’ve downloaded onto your iPhone or iPad.
The Music still has a lot of features that are waiting to be unraveled and this is indeed a great news for Apple Music fans.
When you launch the app now, you’ll first see your own music library, with a designated section for any music you’ve purchased and a “recently added” section. With this new feature, you’ll be able to automatically transcribe a voice message and send it via text message. Lyrics are also joining the mix, making it easier for users to sing along or see what the actual lyrics to their favorite songs are.
But even if Apple Music gets much, much better, there’s no reason to think Apple Music’s trajectory will get any better. The company is going to make new versions of the app available for iOS, Android and Apple TV. Good question. Apple’s tack of if you can’t beat them, improve on them is a tricky one when it comes to something as varied and personal as musical taste.
