Here’s 40 minutes of Zelda: Breath of the Wild gameplay
Nintendo has given a name to its new Zelda game for the Wii U, along with three new amiibo – but no female Link.
The format will be different at E3 this year for Nintendo, no Direct-style presentation will be run, although it will be hosted by Nintendo of America chief operating officer, Reggie Fils-Aime.
We’ve known for some time that game now officially christened Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild would give players an open world to explore – but it wasn’t entirely clear how this would deviate from previous instalments.
In the following video, after a suitably Zelda-like intro where Link wakes up in a odd land with the weight of becoming a hero being placed on his shoulders (keep an eye out for the wonderful voice-acting!), Link steps into the greater world of Hyrule. As long as Link has dungeons, an open-world, and lots of treasure to uncover, I’m game. It shows Link climbing rocks in order to reach new heights, which means at some point in the game we will have to use our rock-climbing skills to achieve certain objectives.
However, we do know how the Wolf Link Amiibo figure (which was included with Twilight Princess HD) with the game.
Zelda fanatics are ecstatic over The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but far less so over recent comments made by Eiji Aonuma, director of the series. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild adds monster colonies to the series.
We see Link armed with a sword, shield with the quiver of arrows hanging from his back.
Aonuma was also asked about the fact that Link appears to once again be right-handed in Breath of the Wild.
There is also word from My Nintendo News that GameSpot has an E3 2016 with two separate timeslots for “new Nintendo Game”.
With the Nintendo NX coming on March 2017, a very non-holiday release date, that probably means that the next The Legend of Zelda game will be included in a bundle with the next generation Nintendo console.
