Exodus in Kairana is not communal, assures BJP
Lakhanpal was part of the nine-member team that arrived in Kairana for an on-the-spot evaluation of the situation created by exodus of Hindus in the morning around 10 am.
The delegation which will visit Kandhla and Kairana include JD (U) lawmaker KC Tyagi, CPI (M) lawmaker Md Salim, CPI’s D Raja, NCP lawmaker DP Tripathi and RJD spokesperson Manoj Jha. Determined to take Singh’s original narrative forward, Organiser has carried it as the cover story in the June 19, 2016 edition, under the weighty title “The Untold Stories of Kairana: A Silent Exodus “.
“These Hindu families have left under duress”, Hukum Singh alleged. Today I spoke with many people. They told me that what all they (BJP) are saying is a lie. He said the BJP “will not remain silent on Kairana issue” and will plan its future course of action according to the report by party’s probe panel. “Soon there will be elections in UP, there should not be any tension on communal divide”, he said.
While addressing a press conference Suresh Kumar spokesperson of BJP Uttar Pradesh said that people in the village are living in constant fear and the Akhilesh government is unable to provide them assistance. Singh, an accused in the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, has now taken a slightly different position on the issue – he said the migrations were not communal in nature, but rather a result of law and order problems.
On a day a nine-member fact finding team of BJP landed in Kairana, party’s state unit president Keshav Prasad Maurya Wednesday said they want the “ghar wapsi (home coming)” of all the families that have migrated out of the area.
The Centre has also sought a detailed report from the state government on the alleged migration of Hindus.
He hit out at SP leader and state minister Azam Khan over his statements on the Kairana issue and said it only proved the “anti-Hindu mindset” promoted by him. He had also released a list of 346 such families.
Mayawati alleged that by raking up the issue of exodus of Hindu families from Kairana, BJP was “conspiring to foment communal passions”, but its efforts were thwarted by the media.
