New Mexico Governor Disagrees With Trump Comments On Judge
Despite Donald Trump’s obvious shortcomings as a candidate, his enthusiastic supporters argue that his commitment to appoint conservative justices to the Supreme Court should persuade all Republicans to unite behind him.
“Well look, I think there’s no justifying those comments and I was very clear about that”, Ryan replied, “And I think we all, everybody, not just Republicans should disavow comments like that and I’m glad he walked it back”.
“Given my military experience, Donald Trump does not have the temperament to command our military or our nuclear arsenal”, Kirk wrote.
Susana Martinez has joined a chorus of Republican leaders in criticizing Donald Trump for his claim that a federal judge is not qualified to preside over a case because of his Mexican heritage.
The judge, Gonzalo Curiel, was born in IN, but Trump defended his attack against Curiel’s Latino heritage nonetheless.
“I am friends with and employ thousands of people of Mexican and Hispanic descent”, Trump said in his statement. All judges should be held to that standard. But, he added, there was still time for Trump to pull it together.
“I hope that all Republican elected officials in the General Assembly especially will also condemn the angry and ugly rhetoric from Donald Trump because I’m not hearing a tidal wave of opposition to what Trump has said”, Delegate Alfonso Lopez said.
The rebuke of Trump was a departure from Kirk’s earlier position on the mogul.
In a video posted last week, he made an appeal to frustrated Republican voters who are supporting Trump, the party’s presumptive nominee.
“Given my military experience, Mark Kirk doesn’t have the temperament to be our Senator”, Duckworth tweeted, linking to a new campaign site that links Kirk to Trump with a quiz asking who said which quote.
The Kirk campaign had no direct response to Duckworth’s criticism on Monday.
Kirk served in the Navy Reserves for 24 years.
