Report details issues for 11-year-old charged in strangling
The 11-year-old boy was charged with aggravated battery.
Chelsea Hudson said she knows the victim and his mom.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies responded the Palatka mobile home park Monday after receiving a call about an unresponsive 4-year-old male.
The boy was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, and pronounced dead around 12:40 p.m. Tuesday.
Deputies found the child lying on a bedroom floor and observed “some suspicious bruises on the juvenile’s neck”. She also said that the boys would often argue and fight.
He also had a fascination with dead animals and dug them up, cut off their limbs and carried them around.
His mother says her son had anger issues and was on medication.
Deputies said the boy just got out of a treatment facility in Miami for sexual behaviors. The report doesn’t specify how old her son was at the time.
Deputies interviewed the homes’ occupants and determined that an 11-year-old boy was suspected of choking the four year old.
The 11-year-old boy and his mother are named in the police report, but the AP doesn’t generally name juveniles charged with crimes and is not naming the mother to protect his identity.
The boy also showed how he shoved his knee into Trahern’s stomach while they were “playing”.
As he continued to demonstrate what he’d done he said he “wanted Braydan to come back to life”.
Investigators said the two children weren’t related but have a history of not getting along.
‘We’re nowhere near determining whether abuse or neglect by the caregivers led to death of this child.’.
