Klamath County libraries summer reading program starts today
The grant will be used to support the district’s annual Summer Reading Program and to fund a new literacy program, Reading Buddies. “They don’t fall behind because of not reading during summer months”.
The theme of the summer reading programs for all libraries in the county is “On your mark get set…Read”, which focuses on health and fitness. Parents can access registration forms and more information on the GPL website under the Programs & Events tab.
The Library’s Children’s team has created reading clubs and activities for all ages and levels, from listeners to independent readers, and makes it a fun challenge through incentives, tracking programs and prizes.
We will celebrate the end of summer with a movie party and if the kids meet their group reading goal of 13,000 minutes, we will be having pizza!
This year’s grand finale will include The Harvey Rabbit and Friends Show at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, at the Rayne High School gym.
School is out for many students in our area, but summer reading programs are in session to help keep skills sharp during vacation.
All programs are free of charge.
We will have stories, games and crafts, and as always, we will strive to encourage readers of all ages to read, learn and explore. There will be family fun activities from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.
