Ann Morgan Guilbert, Millie on ‘Dick Van Dyke Show,’ dies
Her daughter, Nora Eckstein, confirmed the death, reported Variety. No other details were released.
While best known her role on The Nanny, she also appeared in roles including The Dick Van Dyke Show and Picket Fences.
In the ’90s, Guilbert starred as Fran Drescher’s feisty Grandma Yetta on “The Nanny”.
Not only was she a television star, but Guilbert also dazzled on the stage. She most recently made appearances in the new CBS comedy series Life In Pieces.
The Minneapolis native – who spent over 40 years in the biz – acted in a number of Broadway hits including A Naked Girl, Waiting for Godot, and To Kill a Mockingbird. She is survived by the couple’s two daughters, Nora and Hallie Todd (known for her role as the mom on “Lizzie McGuire“).
More recently, she had cameos on “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Modern Family”, and “Getting On”. Her first performance was in the Billy Barnes Revues in the 1950s. The only award she ever received was a cast member of “Please Give” when the film won the Robert Altman Award at the Independent Spirit Awards.
Guilbert was married to actor and producer George Eckstein from 1951 until they divorced in 1966.
Eckstein helped the actress along her career and moved with her to Los Angeles to pursue her long dream of being on TV. Raymond died in 1997, and Ann remained single after that loss. Fans have mourned her death in social media.
