Geldof and Farage in freaky Brexit boat clash
The Brexit debate took to the seas today as UKIP leader Nigel Farage squared up to Irish charity campaigner Sir Bob Geldof in a freakish stand-off on the River Thames in London.
According to the Fishing for Leave campaign, since joining the European Union, 60% of the British fleet has been scrapped, other European Union countries are receiving grants from British tax payers money to build new boats to fish in British waters and 60% of fish quota in United Kingdom waters is now in foreign hands. “If we don’t, it will disappear”.
MERSEA fishermen and their supporters took part in an European Union flotilla protest on the River Thames.
Small inflatable boats flying flags backing the In campaign skimmed around the larger fishing vessels – with some Remain protesters given a soaking by hoses on the trawlers.
There were further freakish scenes as Mr Geldof took the microphone to proclaim Mr Farage as “a fraud” and “no fisherman’s friend”.
Geldof shouted: “Nigel! You’re a fraud!” If you go to Gibraltar you can not doubt that being part of Europe, rather than being a specifically English only nation is a good thing.
“Stop lying. This election is too important”, he stated.
Britain votes in a June 23 referendum on whether to remain in the 28-nation EU.
Nigel Farage has taken to the water today as part of a Brexit flotilla, organised by the Fishing for Leave campaign. This caused jeers from the crowd, some of whom said: “That’s right, you can’t have your own fish, take what you’re given and be happy”.
A recent study by Scotland’s University of Aberdeen suggested that as many as 92 percent of the British fishing trade will be voting to leave the EU.
UKIP leader Nigel Farage has told Breitbart readers to persuade their friends to go to the polling station next week to push “Leave” across the winning line.
Mr Craig added: “We only get funding for safety equipment, the Spanish have had funding for new boats for years”.
Mr Farage said that this would be the first in a series of posters to be revealed during the final week of the campaign.
“They are there on their big boat effectively laughing at working communities being destroyed”.
The stars of Channel 4’s The Last Leg pulled alongside, with comedian Josh Widdicombe shouting questions to Mr Farage. “Pick a side. Finally commit”. We need a British fishing policy that works for British fishermen. “We spoke to them about that”.
Despite the occasionally rowdy scenes, a Metropolitan Police spokeswoman described the event as “good natured on both sides”.
