York-Hanover unemployment rate remains at 4.8 percent in June
But some of the state’s highest rates are in Pueblo County (6.6 percent); Fremont County (7.1 percent); and Huerfano County which has the state’s highest unemployment level of 8.5 percent. While that’s still well below the 1,125 identified as being out of jobs in June 2014, it still caused an upward bump in the city’s unemployment rate. Unemployment rates across Pennsylvania ranged from 3.6 percent in Chester County to 7.4 percent in Forest County.
“I think that’s exactly what it is”, he said. It is still, however, above the statewide jobless rate of 4.6 percent for June, a figure that is also up from a 4.4 percent May showing. Now some icing on that cake: Custer County’s unemployment rate for June stands at an enviable 3.5 percent.The Colorado Department of Labor and Employment last week released its most recent labor statistics, and Custer County has one of the lowest unemployment rates among all 64 Colorado counties. That bureau’s payroll numbers for the area, which comes from a survey of employers, typically slow in the second half of the year but are later revised sharply upward once complete data is available from unemployment insurance reports most employers are required for file each quarter.
Other growing sectors include professional and business services, up 4,200 jobs in the latest 12 months, and health care, up 2,900. It was 7.3 percent in June 2014.
However, there was an over-the-year gain of 77,300 jobs, or 3.1 percent, from June 2014. The rate was 5.8 percent in June 2014 as well.
Henderson County remained the fourth lowest in unemployment rate in the state in June. The June 2014 mark was 5.4 percent.
