Birthday cards flood teen’s mailbox after viral photo of lonely party
“How do you say thank you for that?” said Sorenson’s mother, Allyson.
The picture of a ME teen celebrating her birthday alone has gone viral and propelled people all over the world to send cards and gifts.
– Remember the photo posted to Facebook of the ME girl sitting at a table at a bowling alley, eating birthday cake, surrounded by decorations for her birthday, but no guests?
She sat alone in a bowling alley, crying into her birthday cake, heartbroken.
Hallee Sorenson’s 19th birthday celebrations are off to an unbelievable start.
“Hallee is amusing, sweet, caring, smart, an athlete, a jigsaw puzzle champion, a wonderful student, and a best friend to all”, she said in the post.
Mrs. Seel-Sorenson, took the heartbreaking photo of her daughter sitting alone in front of her cake with a party hat on because she “didn’t know what else to do” a year ago.
“Hallee is an wonderful person-a person I am proud to be related to”.
The post was shared more than 230,000 times, and soon Hallee’s garage was packed with mail from around the world. But then no one showed up’. According to the page, Sorenson has received letters from Germany, England and beyond.
It’s expected the generosity will keep coming at least until Sorenson’s actual birthday, on July 2.
Rebecca actually waited a while to even tell her aunt about the post she made on Facebook. I would love to flood her mailbox with birthday cards, from all over!
Want to send a card? “She is also a person who just happens to have Autism”, Rebeca continued. “And this is where I have a favor to ask of all of you….”
The family has set up a separate Facebook page called Hallee’s 19th birthday to share all of the cards they have received so far.
