Here are NASA’s Retro Mars Recruitment Posters Everyone is Talking About
The space agency this week released a series of retro tourism-style recruitment posters – first created for an exhibit at the Kennedy Center in 2009 – to attract courageous adventurers.
Such posters were first released in 2009 for an exhibit at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor’s Complex in Florida.
Another one reads: “Work the night shift on Martian moon Phobos: Night owls welcome!” But don’t get too excited, the posters don’t mean a person can actually apply to NASA for to receive a job offer on Mars.
It’s an interesting tactic – retro recruitment posters for a job of the future. In fact, NASA is a little under-funded and, now that it’s been mentioned, no one has ever set foot on Mars. In space, you can grow tomatoes, lettuce, peas, and radishes just like you would find in your summer garden.
New NASA posters call for “Mars Explorers” for futuristic scenarios.
NASA is known for their public domain and free access policy on some of its databases, being a government agency, they allow people to access some of their resources. “Dare to forge our future with space-age tools – build spaceships to carry us to Mars and back, and habitats to protect us while we’re there”.
But don’t expect to have a blast anytime soon – NASA doesn’t envision colonizing Mars until 2030.
Farmers, surveyors and teachers are also wanted for Nasa’s journey to the solar system’s fourth planet, as well as miners, engineers and technicians.
