‘Teen Wolf’ star Tyler Hoechlin will play Superman on ‘Supergirl’
Tyler Hoechlin will play the iconic character.
While Superman has been glimpsed during the first season of “Supergirl”;, producers deliberately kept the character out of the first season so as not to detract from Supergirl, played by Melissa Benoist.
The addition of Tyler Hoechlin to the “Supergirl” universe comes as news of a giant CW series crossover which includes “Supergirl”, “Arrow”, “The Flash” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” slated for December.
But who is the man behind Supergirl’s Man of Steel? The show does feature several other “super”-related actors, though: former Supergirl Helen Slater portrays Kara’s adopted mother with former Superman Dean Cain portraying her adopted father”.
As for Superman himself, Tyler has been suiting up for outside projects aside from his comic book role.
Now the wait begins for the CW debut of Supergirl, which is set to air on Mondays this fall.
It appeared that Supergirl had a slam dunk choice available with former Smallville star Tom Welling potentially taking over the role as Superman, but it looks like the series chose to go in a younger direction instead. What do you guys think?
The EP also said in that previous interview that “if you’re going to cast Superman, you’ve got cast Superman right!”
Best known for his work on the TV show Teen Wolf, Hoechlin has also starred in Fifty Shades of Grey and Road to Perdition.
Aside from his days on MTV’s Wolf, Hoechlin broke out on the big screen in Richard Linklater’s fantastic Everybody Wants Some! as McReynolds, the college baseball team’s rough and tough slugger.
