Six Russian hooligans arrested in Germany over assault
Six Russian supporters were arrested in the German city of Cologne on Thursday after attacking a number of Spanish tourists.
The Russians belongings were inspected following their arrest, with police finding tickets for Saturday’s 1-1 draw with England in Marseille, while a police spokesperson confirmed that the supporters were set to travel back to Russia from Cologne later on Thursday evening.
They were found to have had tickets for the England v Russian Federation match in Marseille, which ended with English supporters fleeing for their own safety after being set upon.

The suspects were drunk and found to have tickets to Russia’s matches as well as face masks and mouth guards that police regarded as typical hooligan gear. “The maximum sentences under these charges are between three and 10 years”, the source said.
Euro 2016 has been blighted by violence and Cologne police confirmed on Thursday that five Russian Federation fans had been taken into custody.
The Russian consulate in Berlin did not immediately comment. Our diplomats are going to meet at least some of them.
German police said they will contact their French colleagues to determine if the men had been involved in the fan violence that has plagued Euro 2016 in France. On Wednesday, French Nord Department police said that a total of 16 football fans, including six Russian nationals, had been detained in a new wave of clashes in Lille.
