PlayStation VR demos are now at Best Buy and GameStop
Sony is giving its PlayStation owners a chance to have the demo taste of what is coming in their latest, most-anticipated VR tech.
According to the PlayStation Blog, Sony will have demonstration kiosks at more than 30 GameStop and Best Buy locations throughout the United States.
During the E3 2016, Sony confirmed that the PlayStation VR will land on October 13.
In a landscape where the GearVR is the most popular platform and the two heavy hitters, Oculus and Vive, are received with mixed reviews, Sony has honed in on an opportunity to bring VR gaming to anyone with a Playstation 4.
If you’re a proud PlayStation owner who has yet to try out virtual reality in some capacity-and, no, that VR shooting gallery thing with the huge, bulky headset at your local mall doesn’t count-then you’ve probably been asking yourself whether you should plunk down for a new PlayStation VR. “As all of you would expect, it’s our goal at PlayStation to deliver the best and richest VR gaming experiences, and we can’t wait for you to put that headset on and be transported into these worlds”, he said. They can get the bare PlayStation VR unit at a price point of $399 or a complete kit containing the unit, the PlayStation Camera (mandatory) and the Move controllers (optional, but highly recommended). The shit-your-pants terrifying Resident Evil 7 is certainly of note, providing one of the first Escape the Room experiences on PSVR with the horrifying promise of having zombies eat you alive should you fail.
This list will expand to 300 locations in the USA and Canada on June 24. Future titles in iconic Sony series like Resistance: Fall of Man and God Of War look ready to propel the PS4 to greatness and take the PlayStation VR with it, peppering it along the way with the kind of titles that will make dedicated PC gamers consider buying a console.
