Miyamoto Teases New Mario Game for 2017 Reveal
This year’s E3 was nearly all about Zelda, but rest assured, Nintendo hasn’t forgotten about Mario.
Legendary game creator Shigeru Miyamoto fielded a few questions about the big changes that Breath of the Wild makes to the tried and true Zelda formula and ended up dropping some big hints about an upcoming Mario game, as well.
The next Mario game might be a little bit different.
Gamnesia picked out some choice quotes from Miyamoto in an interview he had with IGN, where the legendary developer at Nintendo mentioned that we could see the next generation of a Super Mario game as soon as next year’s E3.
Miyamoto also spoke about the difficulties of making a new Mario game, “It’s kind of hard with Mario because some of the more important conventions of Mario are based on the approachability and accessibility of those games”.
Speaking to IGN, Miyamoto said that they are interested in taking Mario in a new direction and showing players something new.
Nintendo’s next home video game console, codenamed “NX”, won’t launch with a new Super Mario title when it debuts worldwide in March 2017. Judging by that date, it wouldn’t be unlikely to see this new Mario featured on the NX system.
