Udta Punjab Row An Attempt To Malign Punjab’s Image: Harsimrat Badal
However, negating the CBFC diktat, the Bombay High Court said the film could be released with just one cut. The audience says the movie is a realistic emotional journey and the director Abhishek Chaubey has done a wonderful work in scripting the film, and has an incredible grip over the narration of the story.
A Must Watch Public Rated Movie Which made a Huge Controversy at the Censor Board Starring Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh has received some good reviews around the world. The cop-doc romantic track as well as the tenuous bond between Tommy and Pinky do seem out of place – yet also provide a much needed breather in the film’s suffocating world. While the opening was superb in Delhi-NCR, and obviously East Punjab, it was good to decent in the remaining circuits.
Udta Punjab is a cracker of a title, and the way it opens tells us that it will go on the way it means to: with rolled-up sleeves ready for action, with characters who look as if they belong to Punjab, and speak the lingo right (mostly). Sarjat Singh (Diljit Dosanjh) is a cop, Preet Sahni (Kareena Kapoor) is a doctor and Pinky (Alia Bhatt) is a migrant labourer.
Abhishek Chaubey’s Udta Punjab is littered with standout scenes, but none matches the sledgehammer impact of the climax. ‘Udta Punjab’ mainly targeted the youth and the film is already gaining high numbers at the box office.
Saluja said: “Now most of the shows are houseful in multiplexes but there is a major drop in single screens”. “Punjab situation (is) quite bad”, Kejriwal said in a series of tweets. But today is a day of joy because of the response that the film has got.
“The opening of the film was not that great but it picked up during the day”. A lot of them have even walked out of the film during interval. “The film had a slow start but picked up in the afternoon and evening shows”.
Asked about it, Anurag said: “I feel that the film is very far from politics and very close to reality, what is happening with the people and the characters”. She thinks it’s going to be her ticket out of poverty, but things go awry and she ends up getting raped and in captivity.
