Psychologist: I Never Evaluated Orlando Shooter Mateen
New information suggests that the Pulse nightclub shooter, Omar Mateen, posted messages on Facebook while he carried out the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.
G4S did not name the individual who did administer the test to Mateen, or say whether Nudelman’s name appears on any other forms for other guards submitted after she wasn’t doing exams for the firm.
“One of the things being looked at is why Mateen’s mother called the wife”, the source tells PEOPLE. He didn’t answer, the official said.
Law enforcement officials did not specify what specific charges Salman might be facing.
Nine years ago, the state of Florida received documentation from a security firm vouching for the mental health of Omar Mateen, who launched a bloody attack this week on Orlando nightclub patrons.
Her lawyers released a statement saying that G4S” form was a “false document’ because she had closed her Florida practice on January 1, 2006, almost two years before Mateen was supposedly evaluated.
It remains unclear whether Noor Mateen was aware of the carnage her husband was inflicting on club-goers at the Pulse nightclub on June 12 when she received the messages.
His wife said “No”, and Mateen replied, “I love you, babe”.
“Dr. Nudelman did not score Mateen’s evaluation”, the G4S statement said. “Why did she go looking for her married son in the middle of the night?”
Just a few weeks before the incident that left 50 dead, including Mateen, and another 53 wounded, Mateen was stopped from buying body armor and bulk ammunition, ABC News reported. Hopper said that while he could not discuss the nature of the calls, “I can confirm there were phone calls made, we have them”. Mateen fell asleep in class and fell asleep during training on the shooting range.
Mateen achieved an above average rating on the MMPI and had a favorable recommendation for employment as an armed security officer, the spokesman said. Those claims “certainly change the perspective”, the source said.
“I’m not a psychiatrist, but the struggle with his humanity, his sexuality, combined with the potential for putting the onus on an organization that’s asking people to do this – asking extremists to do these kinds of things – is an interesting dynamic”, he said.
