At E3 2016, Sony shines spotlight on PlayStation VR
Microsoft wanted to alert consumers that they are not behind on updates, and that Sony will not have the only gaming systems that are virtual reality and 4K capable.
It is further explained that for the time being the PlayStation VR also has the advantage with its games given that a lot of PS4 games are now being developed with VR compatibility.
While most details regarding Sony’s Neo are unknown as of yet, the company has stated that the PSVR will launch on October 13, 2016, starting at $399. Select PlayStation VR titles will require Sony’s motion sensing Move controllers.
“Playstation VR” is codenamed Project Morpheus.
Sony previously announced more than 230 developers and publishers are working on PS VR software, with more than 50 titles expected to launch by the end of the year. If there aren’t any nearby, you’re not entirely out of luck: you can also test out a PlayStation VR if you’re near one of the stops on Sony’s “Road to Greatness” roadshow.
In other news, Samsung wants to sell customers on its Gear VR, powered by Oculus, in a big way. This will allow eager gamers to give the PlayStation VR a shot before more preorders open up soon.
“Virtual reality is expanding the video game space and entertainment overall, so it is extremely exciting to have our incredible team at Rocksteady Studios dive into this new storytelling medium with the Batman Arkham franchise”, said WBIE president David Haddad. God of War’s epic landscape, Days Gone’s zombie horde and Detroit: Become Human’s incredibly detailed characters were all created by teams who clearly know how to get every last ounce of power out of the PS4. However, during its conference Sony pulled a string of PS VR versions of popular games from its sleeves. The Oculus Rift headset has been available since March 28. Now dubbed Project Scorpio, Microsoft’s Xbox Chief Phil Spencer said during E3 that the upgraded Xbox One would offer “true 4K gaming” and “high fidelity VR”.
