Didier Drogba mobbed by fans upon arrival in Montreal
Didier Drogba has enjoyed a stellar career in England, France, Turkey and China but he appeared to be taken aback by the welcome he received in Montreal on Wednesday.
The Ivory Coast striker, who manufactured a name for himself with Chelsea, has reportedly agreed to an 18-month deal worth $3 million with the Montreal Influence on Monday, according to ESPN.
After arriving at the Pierre Elliott Trudeau global Airport in Canada, Drogba had to manoeuvre his way through a huge crowd of fans.
Drogba played 381 games with English Premier League giant Chelsea from 2004 through 2012 and last season, scoring 164 goals and setting up 88 others.
The Impact tweeted a picture of Drogba holding one of their club scarves with the accompanying line: “You were waiting for this: Didier Drogba!” “From the initially conversation I experienced with him, I felt that he truly preferred to perform in Montreal”.
‘He’s had an impact on millions of people since the start of his career and he will continue to do so wearing the Impact colours.’. “He has demonstrated his qualities as a striker at the highest level in Europe,” Impact technical director Adam Braz said.
