Orlando gunman talked about violence in 3rd grade
ABC News reports investigators are now in the midst of analyzing chilling security video from inside the Pulse, the gay club in Orlando where gunman Omar Mateen opened fire, killing 49 people and injuring dozens of others.
In an explosive revelation, a Florida gun store owner revealed on Thursday that he had contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation about Omar Mateen about a month before the Orlando nightclub shooter’s bloody rampage – after the would-be killer attempted to purchase body armor and a large amount of ammunition, according to The Hill. He reportedly talked about his wife and son. She said he exploded in anger and often beat her while also keeping her hostage, which led her family to “literally rescue” her from the abusive relationship and Mateen’s mental instability.
Salman, according to the source, said she did not and texted him: “Where are you?”
FBI Director James Comey came was in Orlando Friday to visit the first responders who converged on Pulse the night of the attack.
That included adding the name of his wife, Noor Salman, to his life insurance policy and other documents, and making sure she had access to his bank accounts.
President Barack Obama visited with relatives of those slain and survivors of the attack on Thursday, saying that he and Vice President Joe Biden told them “that our hearts are broken, too, but we stand with you and that we are here for you, and that we are remembering those who you loved so deeply”. His first wife has complained that he beat her, and the security company where he worked once reassigned him after he made inflammatory comments about minorities.
Salman, who married Mateen in 2011, has been cooperating with investigators. And Adam4Adam said the company is looking at conversations and profiles in the Orlando area for any activity by Mateen but hasn’t found anything yet. Cord Cedeno said Mateen saw him at Pulse and messaged him on Grindr, a gay dating app.
Omar Mateen was kicked out of a Florida prison guard training program in 2007. The woman said Mateen knew the color of her vehicle and the area where she worked.
In phone calls to 911, that 29-year-old shooter pledged allegiance to Islamic State and that IS (also known as ISIL) had claimed responsibility for the massacre.
“(Mateen) sent him a picture of his private part, and my friend actually was attracted to him.
The killer, who was living in Fort Pierce at the time, was familiar with the club, as he had been going there at least once or twice a month for the last three years, performers and regulars at the club told media outlets on Monday. “That [threat] would have been enough on its face to let him go”.
Colin P. Clarke, an associate political scientist at the RAND Corporation, said the USA needs to dedicate more resources to countering violent extremism and countering the narrative of groups like IS.
“It doesn’t surprise me that he might be gay”, she said. Not surprisingly, Hillary Clinton had a totally different perspective, and solution, to the Orlando tragedy.
Those are questions law enforcement officials are only beginning to piece together as Orlando begins burying its dead. “I want to go out with you, ‘” said the woman, who CBS did not identify.
Only five or six people made it out alive, said Leiva, who was shot in the foot and leg.
