Timberwolves add PG Miller
Veteran point guard Andre Miller reached a contract agreement with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday, as said by reports. But the fact that Rubio is coming off ankle surgery and Jones is a rookie ultimately changed Saunders’ mind. “He felt it was a good fit for him”.
During his extensive career, the 1999 first-round pick has averaged 12.8 points, 6.7 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. Miller figures to play the same role as Kevin Garnett, an experienced player who could mentor the young studs on the team.
Besides Rubio and Jones, the Wolves roster also includes several other young players who are expected to make an impact early, including Andrew Wiggins, Zach LaVine and No. 1 overall draft pick Karl-Anthony Towns. Andy Miller said the two have kept in touch over the years and the mutual respect helped his client become comfortable right away upon his visit to Minneapolis. Adding another veteran presence in the locker room is important, too, especially when the backup point guard situation still needed a few improving. Seeking a better defensive option for the second unit, the Wizards shipped him to Sacramento one year later in another deadline deal for Ramon Sessions.
Miller averaged just over 20 minutes per game for the Kings over the last 30 games of last season when he was reunited with former Nuggets coach George Karl. Both will turn 40 years old next year – Miller in March and Garnett in May.
