Man shot dead by cops outside Bronx housing complex
The man was pronounced dead at Jacobi Medical Center.
The 25-year-old victim was killed near the housing entrance at 1725 Randall Ave. near Rosedale Ave.
A man was killed when officers fired almost three dozen shots at him in the Bronx, police said. Larry Nikunen said Lloyd approached officers with the gun pointed at them. ABC reports three NYPD officers fired 31 shots at the man, hitting him several times.
Officers recovered a Hi-Point 9mm gun from the scene of a police involved shooting in The Bronx.
But Ravon Moorhead, a friend of the suspect, said the alleged gunman was the father of a 2-year-old and a good guy.
“I’m real hurt”, Morehand told the News. No officers were struck by gunfire, police said.
Friends were holding vigil near the scene of the shooting Sunday morning. His identification has not been released pending family notification.
The man had prior arrests that included robbery, criminal trespassing and possession of marijuana. Four police officers were taken to Montefiore Hospital for observation, following the shooting.
