‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 Photos Show New Characters
Hawkins had been spotted on the set of The Walking Dead earlier this summer.
Wever, who won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2013 for her portrayal of nurse Zoey Barkow on Showtime’s dark comedy “Nurse Jackie“, will play Denise Cloyd, one of the three doctors living in Alexandria Safe-Zone in the comics. It was announced at Comic-Con in San Diego that Ethan Embry and Merritt Wever would be joining the cast, but no other details were given on whom they would be playing.
“Fear the Walking Dead” takes us back to the beginning of the zombie apocalypse – a time when the world was changing rapidly for reasons unknown, before anyone understood exactly what was happening, when life as everyone knew it was upended and altered in ways no one could have ever imagined.
Finally, Hawkins will be playing Heath, who is a significant character in the comics.
As the Huffington Post points out, Rick Grimes owes Denise Cloyd a huge debt in the comic books.
Despite the many deaths in the series, it was reported that the upcoming season will also have additions to the cast. The Spoiling Dead Fans recently reported that Josh McDermitt, the actor who plays Eugene Porter, was spotted trying to cover his face with a towel after filming scenes for the show. Losing an eye would initially be traumatic for Eugene, but he’s transform into a real lady killer by pairing an eye patch with his mullet. Okay, so are you ready to see what Wever looks like as the bespectacled Denise?
Meanwhile, Embry plays Carter who is “a combo of a few characters [from the comics] that we actually haven’t hit yet or weren’t able to hit in other characters”, said showrunner Scott M. Gimple. “He is an Alexandrian, and has been there the whole time, just quite busy”. It was mentioned that Glenn will eventually die in the comic book which probably what Reedus was referring to.
We got a glimpse of Carter in the The Walking Dead Season 6 trailer that debuted at SDCC, where he appears to be convincing the rest of Alexandria that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) is not right for this peaceful town. Heath is a supply runner in Alexandria from the comic books and he’ll be carrying that same role on “The Walking Dead” when season six picks up in October.
