PlayStation VR headset to hit market in October
The new device is Sony’s way of getting into the VR arena, competing with other virtual reality devices such as Oculus Rift, IT Pro reported.
Sony has yet to reveal the release date of the upcoming console. And it’s 2016, after all, so it’s time for Sony to join the Oculus Rifts and HTC Vives of the world with its own VR offering.
Expect to hear more about Farpoint and the PS VR Aim Controller in the coming months, leading to its now unknown release date on the PlayStation VR.
The company also introduced Xbox Play Anywhere, that allows gamers to buy a game once and play it on both their Windows 10 PC and Xbox One console. Some of them include “Final Fantasy”, “Star Wars”, “Batman Arkham” and “Resident Evil”.
“What we can say is that we have a fertile ground of 40m PS4s, all of which will run PlayStation VR”.
The PlayStation VR will go on sale in the U.S. on October 13 with 50 titles available by the end of the year, Sony said at the E3 gaming convention in Los Angeles on Monday.
“We have growing confidence that we’ll be supply constrained with this product, but we’ll do our very best to meet demand”, House told CNBC.
The PlayStation VR, which connects to the PlayStation 4, retails for $399.
“Virtual reality is a medium that’s in its infancy”.
Let’s face it: Virtual reality is going to probably end up being the next big thing in gaming.
Sony is committed to have at least 50 VR games available at launch.
The VR Aim controller is not available yet, and is completely optional. So don’t be shocked if you find out you’ll be waiting a bit longer than the launch date to join the PlayStation VR community.
