Clinton to Meet With House Democrats Wednesday
The vast majority of the caucus endorsed Clinton, while only eight backed the Vermont senator.
The findings point to growing momentum among Democrats for changing a system that’s been criticized for giving party bigwigs undue sway over the nominee at the expense of the grass roots.
It’s unclear if Sanders continues to have a contract for private jets, though financial data from June, which is required to be filed with the Federal Election Commission at the end of this month, will shed light on his post-primary spending.
Another carryover from the primary season is Sanders’ use of chartered jets. Clinton, who has held broad support among congressional Democrats throughout the primary campaign, met with the caucus last July as part of an ongoing courtship and exchange of ideas.
In addition to the 13 delegates for Sanders and five for Clinton, each candidate also received one alternate Saturday.
Missourinet reports that some Sanders supporters say they don’t trust Clinton, while some supporters for Clinton say Sanders isn’t a true Democrat. The CBC chairman G.K. Butterfield argued that eliminating superdelegates would negatively impact members of the CBC.
