Video Tweets & Vines Increase To 140 Seconds
In a blog post, Twitter explained that analytics for the app’s new users will be provided in real-time.
Twitter also unveiled Engage, a separate app to help users with large followings track incoming messages and statistics about their posts.
Twitter plans to launch a new browsing user interface that it says will make it easier to discover videos and Vines within Timelines.
The social networking platform has also announced plans to test longer video formats for its companion app Vine, which now limits footage to six seconds. This year, however, Instagram showed that it’s no longer interested in the “short clip” segment and increased the limits for videos shared via the media from 15 seconds up to a full minute. To do so, Vine will integrate Twitter’s Amplify Open program, which plays advertisements before a video begins.
In another move, Twitter will start allowing video publishers to make money out of their content on Vine, its video streaming service.
According to Twitter the Engage app offers new tweet analytics to make it easier for influencers to monitor engagement with their tweets. Think “creators, influencers or public figures” – and anyone who goes by Rihanna, Taylor Swift or POTUS.
The announcements were made in time for VidCon, and one additional change should make content creators congregated in Anaheim, Calif., this week especially happy: Monetization is finally coming to Vine. Where previously, uploaded videos were limited to 30 seconds, now anyone can create video Tweets up to – you guessed it – 140 seconds long.
The length of video able to be uploaded to Twitter has also been extended to 140 seconds. The new method, called Twitter Engage, will help the micro-blogging giant to retain its already-stagnating audience. The service can be accessed at Twitter.com, on a variety of mobile devices and via SMS.
