Jennifer Aniston Reacts to Oscar Snub
The 45-year-old Friends alum, Jennifer Aniston admitted during an interview at the Critics’ Choice Awards that although she was a bit disappointed at the Oscar snub for her indie drama Cake, she was happy that the film received recognition at Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, and Critic’s Choice nominations.
According to the actress the movie is kind of an “embarrassment of wonderful riches” considering that the movie is yet to release and is “teensy tiny”. The actress was hopeful to receive the Oscar nod for her role as Claire Bennett in ‘Cake‘. The movie is about a woman, who gets addicted to prescription painkillers and becomes obsessed with the suicide of a member in her chronic pain support group, who kills herself.
The star missed out to Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), Marion Cotillard (Two Days, One Night), Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Julianne Moore (Still Alice) and Reese Witherspoon (Wild). Aniston also revealed that she received support from her pals Witherspoon and Moore who emailed her post the Oscar announcement.
Jennifer Aniston praised Unbroken, Angelina Jolie’s latest directorial effort. Unbroken, also failed to receive the Oscar nod. The praise came as a surprise after the much known rivalry between the two stars that dates back to 2005 when Aniston split from then-husband Brad Pitt, who started dating Angelina Jolie. Aniston revealed that the rivalry is gradually coming to an end and compared the same to an old leather shoe.
The We’re The Millers actress was accompanied by Justin Theroux at the award ceremony. Aniston has been engaged to actor and script writer Theroux since 2012. Jennifer was very gracious and supportive when her fellow thespian and pal 54-year-old Julianne Moore was named Best Actress for her role in Still Alice.
Cake is all set to hit the theatres on Jan23.
